Todd and I made a pact a couple of months ago to have FHE every Monday night, no matter what. For those of you who don't know what FHE is, click here.
Sometimes it's a last minute pull-something-off-the-top-of-our-heads and some nights it's more thought-through, but I am so grateful we've made it a habit to do it every week. I hope we continue as our family gets bigger and bigger because I know it only gets harder and harder! I was especially thankful for our FHE this week...Todd was in charge, and it was just the inspiration and uplift I needed. We talked about our talents as well as things we could improve on. We really talked through it, and I loved every second of it. I love talking to my hubby. Sometimes in the middle of the week when things are crazy with lots of school, work, homework, and studying, I crave to have just 30 minutes to talk to Todd without thinking about school or what needs to be done. FHE is a mandatory down-time/quality-time with my hubby, aka my family, to spend time together! I like it, I love it, I want some more of it!
I once heard read from the blogger, Stephanie Nielson, fondly known as NieNie, that she works hard to be a mother. That has stuck with me ever since I read it, especially when thinking about my own little family that is just about to have its beginnings with Reese! I want to work hard to be a good mother. I want to put effort into our activities and time spent together. I want my family to grow to love spending time with each other and cherish our memories together. I want them to look back like I do on my childhood and remember the good things. The great things. The love, laughs, and sacrifices. I know I am not perfect, and certainly will not always have the answers throughout motherhood (in fact, I probably won't most of the time!), BUT I want my children to know that I love them and that family comes first.
